As a reminder, I’m currently on a September Break from my usual blogging where I focus more on sharing photos rather than words. Each day of the month of September has a corresponding theme. You can read all about it in THIS post.
I followed two recipes for “Breakfast Burgers” this weekend. One was savory and meant for dinner and the other sweet and meant for breakfast. The first is a more of a play on the word breakfast and the latter more of a play on the concept of a burger.
Breakfast Burgers Take One: lean ground beef burger topped with havarti cheese, bacon, a fried egg, and a homemade maple aioli. served on a toasted english muffin alongside roasted brussels. I used THIS recipe from the blog How Sweet It Is.
To quote Will: this is like the best egg mcmuffin I’ve ever had.
Not really sure if I appreciate this being put on the same level as a McDonald’s creation… but he meant that as a compliment. I get his point. This breakfast burger was DAMN good.
Breakfast Burgers Take Two: patties made of oats, walnuts, almond butter, mashed banana, cinnamon, and maple syrup- cooked in coconut oil and served with sunbutter + banana + coconut + blueberry jam + blueberries (blueberry overload? never). I used THIS recipe from the blog Edible Perspective.
I feel as though its appropriate that this photo themed blog break started with breakfast. It is the best and most important meal of the day after all. BUT seeing as summer is officially fleeting, I also found it necessary to incorporate as many burgers as possible this weekend. I’m slowly finding a way to kiss all my favorite summer foods goodbye…
Keep it wicked healthy xoxo
